A quick, flavorful, and satisfying dish, this Onion Beef Fried Rice combines tender beef, caramelized onions, and perfectly seasoned rice for a delicious meal in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 1/2 lb beef (thinly sliced, such as flank steak or sirloin)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for marinating)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (for seasoning)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 green onions (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat 1/2 tablespoon oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Onions & Garlic:

    • In the same pan, add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon oil.
    • Sauté the sliced onions until soft and slightly caramelized (3-4 minutes).
    • Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Scramble the Eggs:

    • Push the onions to one side of the pan and pour in the beaten eggs.
    • Scramble until just cooked, then mix with the onions.
  5. Stir-Fry the Rice:

    • Add the cooked rice and break up any clumps.
    • Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and sugar.
    • Mix well to evenly coat the rice with the seasonings.
  6. Add the Beef & Finish:

    • Return the cooked beef to the pan and mix everything together.
    • Stir-fry for 2 more minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
  7. Garnish & Serve:

    • Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve hot!
